Processing versus creating

We have a processing mode—answering emails, checking stuff off our to-do list—and a creative mode, which is messier, slower, more frustrating, but ultimately more rewarding. I personally struggle to combine the two. The former makes me feel productive, the later makes me feel creative. The weird space in between is when I don't achieve much. I think combining both modes would result in better intellectual output.
